Description:The Supply Chain Manager implements and enforces corporate buying procedures and manages the flow of goods through the supply chain. A principal focus is to control costs of purchased items while ensuring appropriate quality and delivery. A principle challenge is to manage optimal inventory levels such that manufacturing requirements are met, inventory costs are minimized, warehouse utilization and flow are efficient, and delivery to customers is timely.
Duties:• Perform work in a safe manner following all EH&S procedures and reporting EH&S concerns; train staff to perform work safely and within EH&S guidelines; and create a safe work environment.
• Management of supply including the shipping/receiving, purchasing and scheduling functions.
• Support production by balancing customer requirements with plant capacities.
• Coordinating, controlling and optimizing the supply chain; including the creation and maintenance of vendor programs, purchasing opportunities and ultimate accountability of required materials and capital expenses for the operation function.
• Develop and implement the metal procurement program including the metal vendor strategy, the management of the metal raw material inventory and the management of the commodity markets for AlcoTec. Position requires market experience and education enabling market monitoring and analysis and the appropriate reaction to market conditions.
• Management of the grounds and building maintenance.
• Administration and management of tasks to support functionality of the front office.
• Support and participate in corporate initiatives that improve overall business performance as needed such as lean, EH&S, etc…
Qualifications:• B.S. Degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing or Business related field
• Master’s Degree and/or CPM preferred.
• 5 to 10 Years of related experience. Commodities buying and/or aluminum market experience a plus.
• Organization: ability to organize and assume responsibility under minimal supervision.
• Human Relations Skills: ability to interact with all levels of the organization in an appropriate and professional manner. Must possess the ability to initiate and enhance the critical long term relations with personnel representing a range of vendors including the world’s largest producers of aluminum.
• High level strategizing and problem solving are routinely required.
• Travel: flexibility to travel overnight.
• Computer & Office: proficient on office equipment and computers, including, but not limited to Microsoft Office.
• Lean manufacturing experience, specifically kanban control and other pull systems, is preferred.

Working Environment:

• AlcoTec Wire Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The ESAB Group, is located in Traverse City, Michigan.
• AlcoTec is a production environment: this position is provided with an office but is expected to work within the production area as necessary.
